Posted April 27, Zylark Posted April 27, Rassa Farlander Posted April 27, MarvinKitFox Posted April 27, The parachute icon in the stage changes colour depending on state. White: Inactive, will do nothing until you make it. Blue: Armed. Will semi-deploy on reaching high enough pressure, set by the tweakable. Yellow: Semi-deployed. Will fully deploy on reaching low enough altitude, set by the tweakable.
Green: Fully-deployed. Will cut on hitting the ground. Red: Cut. Will not redeploy unless repacked by a Kerbal. One of bigger challenges of the game is to build lean rockets going up, that are as not-lean as possible when going down. As SF. Other tests you can do : lower the solid fuel quantity in the VAB to not fall from too high, leaving time to deploy your parachute aim for slightly east when you launch, so you'll have a smooth ballistic trajectory instead of a free fall warning, just for testing put your parachute in the first stage the same as your main booster , it should deploy automatically when you launch.

New post summary designs on greatest hits now, everywhere else eventually. Since getting over that hump, with the practical values you use in the tutorials from that point on, zero problems.
That particular issue doesn't crop up now, I've landed on my own from orbital exercises perfectly. Normally I'd beg the devs to fix it, but clearly the next major iteration is in progress so all I'll do is point out it's a phenomenally bad experience in terms of user experience out of the gate when it doesn't need to be. I can absolutely imagine people getting refunds before giving the game a chance, so it's worth monitoring that sort of experience frankly, if I had gotten to the game earlier, I probably would have bailed.
For other users like me VilniusSchoolmaster , I would just say "uh huh" to that tutorial and move on, it's worth it. Yeah, I gave up on those tutorials early as they just would not work. Nothing but crashes. Youtube to the rescue! If the Tutorials are garbage on just the 2nd tutorial, and I'm already considering giving up, I doubt I'll think twice about this game - new version or not.
It'll stay deployed and flat most of the fall until the bottom, where it'll inflate. At least it did for me. Hopefully the other tutorials in this seemingly complex game are not as badly set up! Also thanks for the previous posters who made these suggestions, I was rather lost after 10 failed attempts.
Last edited by demis. Sadly the next tutorial is also broken - it says to load the "hopper" spacecraft- which doesn't appear to exist The dude tells you to fly in a wide arc, so do it. Don't go straight up. Then everything works out fine.
