It forces us to change our view of the horse in order to attain what the horse can freely give. It encourages a way of life with the horse. As I see it, the human being is guilty of extreme offences to the horse.
I really believe that through centuries, humans' relations with horses has been grounded on violence and immeasurable barbarity. To me, the apotheoses of this "cretinism" are the equestrian sports in all their forms. You torture the horses by inserting iron instruments that were invented in the Bronze Age into their mouths, just to have fun I know what I speak of: my own past is very shameful and dishonouring.
I am more than guilty of offending the horse as I have participated in equestrian sports, in teaching tricks to horses for the cinema, in using the "iron" and the spurs But I remember it. I remember that in those times, I was "one of them". Unfortunately, that is the way I was told to do. Back then, when I was very young, I was told that the bit was absolutely necessary, and that the horse was "stupid".
I had to acquire much knowledge, experience and much courage to change myself completely. Nevzorov Haute Ecole is a school built on the fundamental principle of raising horses without any - not the slightest - mean of control or constraint.
The school is based on the fundamental understanding that the horse is capable of cognition. To conquer his spirit is a more honest goal and is much more constructive than stupidly hamper him with ropes or straps and all sorts of ironmongery. Whatever hypocrite arguments the classical schools of equestrians sports may choose to justify themselves, they treat the horse as a machine made of flesh and with no intellect, that you can set in motion with a kick of the spurs, that you must always control through the pain provoked in the mouth by the "iron" the bit ; and whose whole life must be dedicated to serving the desire or lack of desire of man to use it and have fun with it.
Especially love for the horse. If we look narrowly at what sportsmen, stunt men, old classical schools' representatives do with horses, we'll see clearly that such relations would be logical only if they had hatred at the heart of their actions I lived in the atmosphere of cruelty, watching how stunt men treated horses, how sportsmen tortured them every day. All that those people do with horses is not related to the feeling and passion that originally led them to horses You can hate violence towards the horse only if you hate violence towards men.
But I didn't know how to treat them otherwise. So my great emotional necessity to be with them required big and serious knowledge. I start-ed traveling everywhere and studying. I didn't understand that it was not my talent that really mattered but my approach and the feeling that I was no longer hiding from horses. From then on I forgot all my previous experience and acted in accordance not with the norms of sportsmen and stunt men but with the feeling I felt for horses.
And I felt love and endless respect. This was the greatest instrument of all. He used to be a novice in a monastery, a bass chorister, a keeper of a museum, a loader, a stunt man, a reporter at several wars, a literary secretary, a script writer, a consultant-analyst to the Government of the Russian Federation, Independent Deputy of Russian parlament, head on TV for 10 years.
He participated in wars in Ugoslavia, Transdniestria, Iraq and Chechnya. He defended the White House in , participated in the assault of Ostankino and in the first assault of Grozhy. He was wounded twice. Three times he became a volunteer hostage of terrorists in exchange for release of other people.
He is a specialist-expert in ancient curb bits, stirrups and any horse harness in general, and a specialist-bibliophile in old hippological editions. He was conferred the most prestigious awars, such as Personal Bravery Order, the Red Star, and many others He was the author and the anchorman of a legendary program of Leningrad television ' seconds" and analytical programs "Days" and "The Wild Field". He is the author and director of many documental and feature films such as "The Purgatory", in which he reconstructed the events that he participated in during the assault of Grozny.
Feb 22, Sascha rated it it was amazing. This book by Alexander Nevzorov can be best described as the most honest and accurate account of human involvement with horses ever published in history; and one which is acutely relevent to modern horse people, particularly the ones who want to care for and connect with horses to the highest degree.
Alexander Nevzorov is a man who has tapped into something very deep here And by contrast he also unveils in his refreshingly unapologetic manner, the lowest characteristics of human nature and what we should all avoid and fight against if we care at all about horses.
I think this book is exactly what the world needs right now! No more excuses, it shows exactly what is possible, that we can rise to true heights of humanity, that we can refuse all torture and harsh tactics against horses and that the pinnacle horse human relationship is real and possible for all! If you have seen any of his films, you HAVE to read the book - as someone rightly said to me recently, this book is an essential addition to the Nevzorov films Nevzorov Haute Ecole Principles and together, the book and films are truly a complete study for intelligent horse-people and for those who are serious about following the Nevzorov Haute Ecole.
It should also be said that this book is not just for a horse person, but for any modern thinking person who wants this world to grow into something beautiful for horses and for all, and who wants to know how to contribute to such a change. Alexander Nevzorov shows the way.

He did a seemingly impossible thing; he understood the mechanism of the natural horse's collection, without any artificial aids. Nevzorov's horses at liberty, at lunge, in hands and while mounted always move in a perfect balanced collection without a bridle. It is necessary to point out that during training Nevzorov never uses bridles or any other restraint, only the cordeo - a thin strap that lies free on a horse's neck.
He educated his horse to read, write and so communicate which was demonstrated in LEP film. Certainly all this did not happen at one stroke. Alexander had to go a long and difficult way to understand the essence of horse and man relationship. It took years of studying and self-examination for him to admit his own faults, repent and to start everything from the beginning. Then the understanding between horses and him developed to a phenomenal extent.
However I am sure that he will not stop at this stage and will go further. What he will achieve at the end Let's not guess and just wait for new films and books. But one thing is clear: this way leads to understanding of human and horse's souls. Alexander Nevzorov is a famous Russian journalist, film director, politician, scientist, writer and horseman. He founder of the Horse Revolution and Nevzorov Haute Ecole - the art of horsemanship in its highest form, where he has managed to keep the tradition of Classical School horsemanship without a bit or bridle for riding in collection.
He is an award-winning author of many films including "Horse Crucified and Risen" and "NHE Principles", as well as world-changing books and hundreds of articles.
